Ghana’s national cricket team secured a dramatic two-wicket win over Malawi on Day Two of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup African Sub-Regional Qualifier B at the Achimota Cricket Oval.
The hosts chased down a modest target of 99, finishing on 99/8 in exactly 20 overs after restricting Malawi to 98/8 in their innings.
Malawi, who batted first, struggled to build momentum as Ghana’s bowlers kept things tight, limiting them to 98 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Ghana’s chase proved nervy despite the manageable target, with Malawi applying pressure and reducing the hosts to eight wickets down.

However, Ghana held their composure in the closing stages to seal victory with two wickets to spare, maintaining their unbeaten start in the competition.
The win follows Ghana’s opening-day triumph over Seychelles and strengthens their chances of progressing to the next round of the qualifiers.
In other matches played on Day Two, Tanzania delivered a commanding performance, posting 178/4 before bowling out Eswatini for just 20 runs.
Seychelles also picked up a win, chasing down 96/3 against St Helena, who had earlier managed 95/7.
Ghana will be aiming to continue their strong run as the tournament progresses in Accra
