Ejisuman SHS has become the first school to qualify from the Ashanti Regional Qualifiers for the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) national championship after a commanding performance in the opening contest.

The school dominated the competition, finishing with 51 points to secure the qualification slot. St. Jerome SHS placed second with 35 points, while Onwe SHS, making their maiden appearance at the regional qualifiers, finished with 3 points.

Ejisuman's convincing display sets the tone for this year's Ashanti qualifiers, one of the most competitive regional contests in the country.

For Onwe SHS, although the journey ends at the regional stage, the competition marked a significant milestone as the school's first appearance at that level.

Both Onwe SHS and St. Jerome SHS will be hoping to regroup and mount stronger qualification campaigns next year.

Ejisuman SHS now turns its attention to the national championship, where it will be aiming to improve on its performance in the 2025 competition.

Last year, the school also qualified through the Ashanti Regional Qualifiers and advanced to the one-eighth stage before bowing out to Bishop Herman College.

With qualification already secured, the focus now shifts to whether Ejisuman can go a step further and challenge for a place in the quarter-finals—or even beyond—when the national championship begins.
