Ghana and Tanzania have both secured qualification to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup African Sub-Regional Qualifier B following the conclusion of the Six-Nation T20 tournament in Accra.
The competition, hosted at the Achimota Senior Secondary School A and B fields, featured Ghana, Tanzania, Malawi, Eswatini, Seychelles, and Saint Helena. The tournament served as a key preparatory platform ahead of the qualifiers.
Ghana finished as runners-up after winning four of their five matches, including victories over Seychelles, Malawi, Saint Helena, and Eswatini, demonstrating consistency with both bat and ball.
Tanzania, however, dominated the tournament with an unbeaten run, recording emphatic wins against Eswatini, Seychelles, and Saint Helena to top the standings.
At the closing ceremony, Tanzania also swept the individual awards: Ivan Sulemani was named Most Valuable Player, Augustine Ajith picked up Best Batsman, and Lakah Bakaranie was adjudged Best Bowler.
The tournament concluded with players and officials from all six nations gathering to celebrate sporting excellence and Ghana’s successful hosting of the event.
With qualification now secured, both Ghana and Tanzania will turn their attention to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup African Sub-Regional Qualifier B, where they will face tougher competition in their quest for a place at the global tournament.
