Business strategist and economist, Dr Ishmael Yamson, is calling on government agencies to desist from policy contradictions and work together towards transforming Ghana’s economy.
According to him, inconsistent and conflicting policies among state institutions continue to undermine efforts aimed at driving sustainable economic growth and private sector development.
Speaking at the Ishmael Yamson and Associates Business Roundtable, Dr Yamson stressed the need for stronger coordination among public institutions to ensure policies are aligned with the country’s long-term development agenda.
“Government agencies must desist from policy contradictions if we are serious about transforming the Ghanaian economy,” he stated.
He noted that Ghana cannot achieve meaningful economic transformation if institutions operate in silos or introduce measures that work against one another.
“You cannot have one institution pursuing industrial growth while another introduces policies that frustrate businesses and investors,” Dr Yamson said.
He further urged policymakers to adopt a more deliberate and collaborative approach that supports businesses, attracts investment, and improves productivity across key sectors of the economy.
“Economic transformation requires coordination, consistency and a shared national vision,” he added.
The business roundtable brought together industry leaders and policy stakeholders to discuss strategies for economic transformation, private sector growth, and national development.
Participants also highlighted the critical role of the private sector in driving industrialisation, job creation, and economic resilience.
