Great Olympics coach Yaw Acheampong has waded into the controversy about giving a quota to locally-based players into the Black Stars.
He wants home-based players to be selected into the Black Stars to replace the many foreign-based crop who warm the bench.
This comes in the wake of FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi's support of Avram Grant in not selecting any locally-based players for his 22-man squad camping in France at the moment.
“Some of the players that [are called up] for tournaments go there and don’t do anything,” the former Black Star complained.
His comments have some merit because there are some players with a history of callups into the national team but have next to nil appearances.
“So we can give those spots to the local players. You can have about just 12 or 16 players in a squad that play in the tournament and the rest do nothing, so I believe those spots can be given to local players,” he told reporters.
Welbeck Abra-Appiah, boss of the country's Premier League Board, also chided the Israeli coach for not giving local players consideration.
