A Ghanaian immigrant in England, Charles Acquah, is being trialed in London for the murder of a Ghanaian boxer John King Abbey last year.
John King Abbey had being living in England after competing in the Commonwealth Games of 2002 for Ghana but lost his life in January of 2008 when he was stabbed by his friend Charles Acquah in West Croydon in disagreement over a lady who was flirting with the two men.
Harry Miller, a journalist with the Croydon Guardian, covered the first hearing on Monday and reported the prosecution had found more evidence than the defense counsel has.
Meanwhile King Abbey’s brother, Samuel Abbey, and former trainer, Ishmael Quaye, and three others are on their way to London on the request of the judge to testify in the hearing.
Samuel Abbey said he is eager to see justice done in the murder of his 26-year-old brother.
“We want the truth to come out because nobody knew what happened. I was not there; we want justice to prevail,” he said.
“I don’t know why somebody will murder my brother just like that.”
He hinted that the late boxer has been the bread winner in the family and that his death was big blow to the family.
