A leading member of the NPP Apenteng Appiah Menka has lodged a formal complaint to the police over what he says are threats to kill him and some other members of the party in Ashanti Region.Speaking to Joy FM’s Bernard Saibu from the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters on Thursday, the worried entrepreneur said he received a text message on his phone, excerpts of which read that, "you as the leader of the Ashanti Mafia will be eliminated to pave way for the NDC in the 2012 election.”He named the other supposed targets, supposedly part of the mafia as Dr. Donkor Fodjuor, Dr. Amoako Tuffour, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, Minority leader, Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Manhyia MP Matthew Opoku Prempeh and others.He said the threat as contained in the message will be carried out in the form of an armed robbery.According to him, one of the targets, Dr. Tuffour has confirmed receiving the same message.Mr Menka denied being part of any mafia in the region or the existence of one.He has no idea who wants them dead and for what and has called on the police to provide adequate protection.He maintains he will continue to belong to his party and believe in his God.Play the attached audio for the voice of Mr. Apenteng Appiah MenkaStory by Nathan Gadugah/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
