The Ashanti Region is to benefit from an ultra-modern recreational facility, the first of its kind in the sub-Sahara Region.
President John Dramani Mahama and the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will on Friday June, 19, 2015 jointly inaugurate the Rattray Park, the brainchild of City Mayor, Kojo Bonsu.
The facility, adjacent the Golden Tulip Hotel, has an acoustic dancing fountain, a unique facility in Africa.
“The Rattray Park, Kumasi City”, a 42,000 square-meter recreational facility can boast of a six square-meter multimedia controlled fountain, children’s playground, a golf cart, wi-fi internet connectivity, an open robust gym and a cafeteria among others.

The objective is to give the residents of Kumasi and beyond a one-stop recreation facility and also promote a healthy lifestyle.
A statement from the KMA read: “As part of effort to green Kumasi and restore it to its past glory as the Garden City of West Africa, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has successfully undertaken the regeneration and redevelopment of a public park into an ultra–modern recreational facility.”
The KMA has already been making arrangements to control traffic.
The statement says: “We will like to inform the general public that the Raintree Street (road in front of Golden Tulip Hotel) will be closed to traffic at 10:00 am. However, the Police will be around to direct traffic to divert roads in and around the Golden Tulip Hotel."
