A Cicuit court in Accra has set July 13, 2015 to rule on the sodomy case involving the senior medical officer at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital accused of defilement.
Dr. Sulley Ali-Gabass has been in custody over a two-count charge of defiling a child under 16 years and unnatural carnal knowledge, an offence he has denied.
He is alleged to have, in the months of October 2013 and April 2014 at Kasoa and Alajo, had unnatural carnal knowledge of the victim aged 15.
According to the police, in October 2013, Dr Gabass arranged and met the victim at Kasoa New Market Area where he forcibly had anal sex with him in his car in front of the Kasoa HFC Bank.
He later led the minor to his house in Alajo in Accra where he sodomised him.
The victim suffered serious injuries to his anal region and had to take an operation to fix it.
He has also contracted the deadly HIV disease, but Dr Ali- Gabass has denied infecting him with the disease.
He has produced a medical report in court that suggested he was negative.
Joy FM's investigative journalist Manasseh Azure-Awuni broke the story about sodomy after months of investigations.
When he confronted Dr Ali-Gabass, he admitted having sex with the minor but in court, which has been sitting in camera, the senior medical officer denied the charge.
He however admitted knowing the minor after they became friends through social media network- Facebook.
After months of hearing which has produced some five witnesses including Manasseh Azure-Awuni, the court presided over by Mrs Agyemang Budu has set July 13, 2015 to give a ruling on the matter, Joy News' Kwakye Afre-Nuamah has reported.
The family of Dr Ali-Gabass said they will use the Ramadan period to pray so that the judgement will go in favour of their relative.
The doctor is a known to be a devout Muslim in Takoradi.
