The Minister of Defense General Joseph Henry Smith has told Joy News officers of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), the army and navy are questioning crew on board a vessel intercepted by the Navy.
Nigerian authorities earlier announced the oil-carrying vessel had been hijacked.
They alerted the navy because they suspected the hijackers were moving the vessel in the direction of Ghana.
The refined oil carried in the vessel was christened “African Prince’.
One person was found dead on board the vessel whiles the rest of the crew – six expatriates and 22 Nigerians are assisting with investigations.
But General Smith tells Joy News his men are finding out what the vessel was doing on the Ghana’s territorial waters.
He said “government will take action” when investigations are concluded.
