Protesting supporters of the governing NDC in Nabdam in the Upper East region have locked up the office of the District Assembly disgusted at the appointment of an official from a neighboring district.
They cannot understand why the new Youth Employment coordinator must be brought in from another district.
They want one of their own to occupy the position.

Joy News' Albert Sore was at a press conference organised by the group and reported they are enraged by the new appointment.
The Deputy Nabdam Constituency Secretary of the NDC, John Paul Azumah said "since the creation of the district no Nabdam individual in good standing with the party has received any appointment to head any of the departments in the assembly or coordinate any of the government initiated programmes".
He cited the appointment of two people from different districts in 2013 who were posted to Nabdam to work as National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and non-formal education coordinators.

He indicated that though there are individuals in the district who are capable of taking up these duties, people from different districts have been consistently appointed.
The youth said they will not allow this recent appointment of someone from Bongo as coordinator of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) in the district to stand because they have for too long been "neglected and insulted".
They are therefore demanding that "the appointment of the new GYEEDA coordinator from Bongo should be withdrawn immediately".
