The District Chief Executive for Asante Akim North, Mr. Kwame Frimpong, has condemned the recent strike actions by nurses and said the situation should be addressed to save lives. He has therefore, appealed to the members of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association to adopt genuine procedures to address their grievances rather than to resort to strike actions.Mr. Frimpong made the appeal at the launch of the 41st Annual Week celebration of the Ashanti/Brong Ahafo Nurses Christian Fellowship, Ghana (NCFG) at Agogo in the Asante Akim North District at the weekend. The theme for the week-long celebration is: “Challenged to Care Rightly in the Millennium.”He said their role is crucial in the socio-economic development of the country and therefore asked them to work harder to raise the image of the profession. The DCE assured them that the government would not throw their grievances over-board and that they would be looked into with the necessary solutions given to their grievances to motivate them to perform better in health delivery.Mr. Bright Attah Addae, the National President of the NCFG, commended the founding missionaries for bringing the fear of God into the nursing profession and asked nurses to adhere to such Christian principles. He said the Fellowship aims, among others, at bringing Christian nurses together to inculcate in them Christian principle of being patriotic and care for the sick.Mrs. Mary Agyeibea Tenkorang, Nursing Administrator of Agogo Presbyterian Hospital charged them to respect the Ghana Health Service Code of Ethics for nursing profession.Source: GNA
