Dreams FC Executive Chairman Kurt E.S Okraku has cleared the air about his outfit relieving former Ghana captain Charles Akonnor of his duty as manager of the club.
Earlier in the week, it was rumoured that management of the Premier League debutants had plans to sack Akonnor after series of poor results recorded in the ongoing GPL specifically the 4-0 drubbing at Dormaa by former champions Aduana Stars.
However, the astute football Administrator, in an exclusive interview with the club’s official website www.dreamsfc.com debunked all rumours speculating in the media by saying that the management of the club believes in Manager Akonnor’s ability to turns things around.
“This is an opportunity for me to clear the hearts and minds of followers of this football club,” he notified.
“Our manger is Charles Akonnor- Charles achieved everything as a footballer. He played at the highest level, captained Ghana, captained a very good team in the Bundesliga,” he told www.dreamsfc.com.
He continued, “We like Charles Akonnor a lot, he prepared this team for the preseason, he started the job at the beginning of the season. He qualified this team to the Premier League for which reason we hold him in high esteem.”
“Like I’ve said before, we’ve won five, lost four and drawn twice. We believe that Charles has been working well with the players, he clearly is our man- we have absolute believe and confidence in his ability to turn things around,” the Executive Chairman reiterated.
“We do not know where these rumours of Dreams FC to sack C.K Akonnor and bla bla bla is coming from. Dreams FC has absolute confidence in the technical team. Charles is our manager, he will continue to be our manager, he’ll continue to develop this football club.”
“We will continue to help Charles to further develop his knowledge in this sport. If it is in the opinion of this football club that any part of the technical team needs to be strengthened, we’ll do that in consultation with Charles because we both share the same vision and we’ll continue to work hand-in-hand,” he insisted.
Dreams FC are sixth on the league table with 17 points and face in-form Liberty Professionals in a must-win encounter on Wednesday in the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League week 12 fixture.
