Husbands will be made to donate blood before their wives go into labour at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Takoradi.
The hospital administration said this forms part of measures to replenish the blood bank there.
The Coordinator of blood donations at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Francis Blay Cudjoe, said exceptions will only be made in emergency situations.
“It is a policy in Effia Nkwanta Hospital that if your wife is pregnant, before she delivers, the husband should arrange to donate blood in case she needs blood,” he said, adding that “the blood bank is the only place which has no respect for anybody.”
