Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association Wilfred Osei Palmer has stated that recent reports that the state paid bribes over $420,000 in the Black Stars 2014 World Cup playoffs qualifier against Egypt to reach the tournament will not affect their quest of making another World Cup berth.
Reports emerged on Monday that some unclassified and indemnity payments were made by Ghana during the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign especially the game against Egypt.
ome have expressed fear that this could affect Ghana as we embark on another qualifying campaign.
But Wilfred Osei popularly known as Parma thinks otherwise.
“Far from it the FA is still focused. We will not let distractions take us out of the way at all. We have not said anywhere in our official statement that we have paid bribes to any officiating official,” he said.
“I will entreat that media that the best source of information for you to act on is from the federation. So far as the federation is concerned we are concentrating on the world cup qualifiers and that is what we expect everybody to do.”
“Subsequently our outfit will call for a press conference within that we can raise all issues concerning this matter but for now we have to concentrate on getting the job done.”
