Ghana’s weightlifter Christian Amoah who won the country’s first gold medal in the Youth 85kg category at the ongoing International Weightlifting Commonwealth Championship in Malaysia is targeting another medal in the next Olympic games.
Richard Osarfo another contingent for the Black Cranes of Ghana also grabbed a silver medal in the youth 94kg category.
Amoah who was part of Team Ghana’s contingent at this year’s Rio Olympics is delighted at the feat and hopes win more laurels for Ghana.
“Am very happy for winning Gold for Ghana and am very proud of myself”.
“I always believe in myself and I know what I use to do at training so that gave me more confidence”.
Quizzed about his plans after the International Weightlifting Commonwealth Championship, the national hero said “Am going back home to prepare myself for the next Olympic games and my target for the Olympic games is to win more medals for Ghana”.
“Am not going to promise that I am going to win medals for Ghana but my target is to win medals for my country.
The Black Cranes had to raise funds from the public to participate in the competition.
