Manchester United chief executive David Gill has admitted that he expects a busier summer than usual at Old Trafford with transfer targets being confirmed in the coming weeks.
United will look to rebuild their squad in the wake of their heavy defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League on Saturday evening.
The club has been linked with moves for Atletico Madrid’s David De Gea, Aston Villa’s Ashley Young and Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder among others and Gill believes the Red Devils will be active in the market.
He told MUTV: "It will be a busier than usual summer this year.
"I will be going away at some point in June and be back for the start of our tour but I will be on with player stuff for the next few weeks, I am sure."
Paul Scholes is still yet to sign a new contract and it is thought he could retire, and did not comment on the subject when asked about the team's season.
He said: "Reaching 19 titles is not something you ever think about. All you want to do is win something.
"To go on like we have done is a great achievement. Now we want to stretch our lead [over Liverpool, who have won 18 league titles] even more.
"The challenge will always be to get the next one. This one is out of the way now. We will celebrate it today, have a nice summer, then think about winning the next one."
