Editor of Kotoko Express and a Member of the Communications team of Asante Kotoko, Jerome Otchere has branded the referees review panel decision not to punish Samuel Sukah as a mockery on football in the country.
Samuel Sukah came under intense criticism after awarding a controversial penalty to Hearts of Oak in the Super clash against their arch rivals Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium
The referees committee on Friday issued a statement after careful scrutiny indicating Samuel Sukah made the right call but Jerome still stands but his belief that the decision was completely wrong.
“The video the panel used to defend the Samuel Sukah was ridiculous and it makes a mockery of what we are doing with our football,” he told Asempa FM.
“I am not surprised because if you don’t want to speak the truth, you will find anyway to defend yourself and sometimes the defence becomes so weak because you don’t want to admit your fault.
“We had three different angles showing the same thing which for me is not right so how was the panel able to bring out their reports? With this decision, I know we will be vindicated at the right time because when J. O. Lamptey’s issue came up against Medeama SC in the MTN FA Cup finals, they told us that we were bad losers and from there look at what he is going through in life and this decision raises serious questions about how we are running the league.
“The review panel should have gone to the extent of getting shots that will clearly show the incident properly but because they don’t want to punish Samuel Sukah, look at what they brought out as their judgment.
“Despite the review panel clearing him, we don’t owe him any apology and his blacklist was a protest we did to show we were angry with his decision he made and I will say time will always expose the wicked intensions of man.”
Kotoko host Inter Allies at the Kumasi Sports Stadium this weekend.
