Nyakrom Senior High Technical School has secured qualification to the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Championship after a strong performance in Contest Four of the Central Regional Qualifiers.
The qualification marks only the second time in the school’s history that Nyakrom SHS has earned a place at Ghana’s premier science and mathematics competition.
However, beyond the intense battle for points, the contest produced one of the most memorable moments of the regional qualifiers — a story of twin sisters sharing the NSMQ dream from different sides of the stage.
Contestant Bridgitta Agyabeng was introduced as a substitute to help Nyakrom SHS push for victory, while her twin sister, Bridget Agyabeng, watched from the audience, offering encouragement throughout the contest.
For the twins, the NSMQ stage represented another chapter in a journey they have shared since childhood.
Although Bridget was not competing, she followed every question, tense moment and correct answer as though she was part of the team on stage, cheering proudly as her sister carried the school’s hopes.
The contest itself was a closely fought encounter, with Nyakrom SHS and Jukwa Senior High Technical School emerging as the early frontrunners.
Nyakrom gained an early advantage after the opening round, but Jukwa remained within touching distance, keeping the competition competitive until the final stages.
The introduction of Bridgitta as a substitute became a defining moment in the contest, as her contribution helped Nyakrom maintain its momentum and eventually secure the qualification ticket.
The victory sends Nyakrom SHS back to the national stage, where the school will compete against the best-performing schools from across Ghana.
Beyond the scores and competition, the bond between Bridget and Bridgitta Agyabeng served as a reminder of the support systems behind every NSMQ contestant — from teammates and teachers to family and loved ones.
For the twin sisters, the contest became more than an academic challenge; it became a shared memory of perseverance, encouragement and achievement.
