The appointment of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Organiser for Akropong constituency, Dennis Edward Aboagye, as the Municipal Chief Executive MCE for the Akuapem North Municipality has been well by chiefs and people of Okuapeman.
Assembly members, opinion leaders and queen mothers are all hailing Mr Aboagye’s appointment, describing him as one of their own.
At the swearing-in ceremony held for the MMDCEs at Koforidua recently, the Queen Mothers Association of Okuapemman said they were hopeful that Mr Aboagye will deliver on his mandate.
"We came here today to support our son and to show appreciation to the President through the Regional Minister for this appointment. Everybody in Okuapemman today is happy and hopeful that we are going to see massive development under the leadership of Hon. Dennis Aboagye" said the Mamfe Gyaasehemaa, Nana Asomaningwaa.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the swearing-in ceremony, Dennis Aboagye said his vision is to work with the chiefs and people of the area to create a modern local economy to bring jobs and ensure the people of Okuapemman are financially independent.
Dennis Aboagye is a Chartered Marketer with a Chartered Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing - UK, an MBA (Marketing) from the Central university Graduate school of Business and B.A Political Science from the University of Ghana Legon.
He has ten years experience in the Sales and Marketing industry with exposure in FMCG and Financial service industries.
He has spent five years out of the ten serving in various roles within the pension industry - Enterprise Trustees Limited - starting from Client Relations Executive to Client Relationship Manager and Unit Head.
Prior to Joining Enterprise, Dennis Aboagye served as Head of Sales & Marketing with Homefoods Ghana Limited and Eastern Regional Coordinator for Youth Entrepreneurial and Skills Development Centre (YESDEC) a World Bank funded project under the NYEA.
He is passionate about Business Development, Sales Management and Brand Positioning.
His life in Politics started as a student at the University of Ghana, Legon, where he held various leadership positions.
He served as a member of the vetting committee for the SRC and Akuafo Hall during the 2006/7 academic year.
During the same period, he was a member of both the Akuafo Hall senate and the SRC General Assembly.
He was the chairman of the Legon Speaks Committee and a member of the Akuafo Hall Constitutional Review Committee.
He set up the first ever youth wing of the New Patriotic Party in the Akropong Constituency starting from Larteh and got it established in all the major towns in the constituency.
He has risen through the ranks from a polling station Youth Organizer to a polling station chairman, through to Constituency Deputy Youth Organizer, constituency Youth Organizer, becoming the Constituency Campaign Coordinator for the 2016 elections -- roles he held and delivered with maximum results.
He also served as a Political Aide and a Campaign Strategist to the former MP, Deputy Defense Minister, Hon. W.O. Boafo.
As Campaign Coordinator for the 2016 polls, he played a key role in the Central Strategic Committee that plotted the resounding victory the party chalked in the Akropong Constituency.
Generally referred to as 'commander' in the Constituency, his appointment has generated excitement amongst the chiefs, opinion leaders and the people of Okuapemman with everyone looking forward to a new era of rapid development.
