The National Identification Authority (NIA) has temporarily suspended distribution of the national ID cards.
Officials say this has become necessary because over 500 National Service persons are being trained to facilitate the distribution.
The exercise which begun in Accra in July this year has attracted public criticism because of its slow pace.
Over 300 officers recruited for the exercise have also not been paid for two months.
Head of Public Relations at the NIA, Bertha Dzeble, tells Joy News all the challenges should be resolved by next week.
