A 45-year-old businessman was shot and killed by armed robbers at Gbetsile, a suburb of Tema Thursday night. It is believed that the deceased, George Agyei Acheampong, a dealer in car tyres was trailed from his shop to the house after he closed from work. The Tema Regional Police Command confirmed the shooting to Adom News and said the incident took place after 10pm.Reports say when Mr. Agyei Acheampong was a few metres away from his house, he noticed four (4) suspicious young men loitering around the house. Sensing danger he backed away and drove around his neighborhood for a while before returning to the house. On his return, he saw that the four (4) men were quite a distance away from his house so he relaxed and entered. However after some minutes, the suspected robbers attacked, forcibly breaking into the house and demanding that he bring out his bag which contained his daily sales to them.Without provocation, they shot him in the chest at close range. The robbers then dragged Mr. Agyei Acheampong outside the main house, shot him again and left with his laptop and the bag containing an undisclosed amount. They also threatened to deal with his wife before they left. The Tema Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Olivia Turkson appealed to the public to offer any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspected robbers. She cautioned against residents who show very little concern to their neighbors and called for intensification of education on the neighborhood watch committees to assist in protecting residents in times of such attacks.
