The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is set to roll out vocational and entrepreneurial projects that would provide eternal livelihood for the youth across the country.

Part of the plan is to ensure an efficient use of resources while still empowering the youth to be on their own after working two years with the agency.

The CEO of YEA, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, disclosed this in an interview, Thursday.

"I will introduce a flagship programme in all the ten regions. For instance in the Northern Region they are noted for smock making. I will make that region the centre piece for smock and provide the youth there a permanent job" he stated.

An entrepreneur himself, Mr Kodua Frimpong said that capital would be injected into vocational and entrepreneurial programmes across the country for the youth to take advantage of.

Allowance:

According to the CEO, the July and August allowances owed beneficiaries have been paid as at October 13.

He contended that beneficiaries were owed three months of their allowance and by the end of October, the allowances of September and October will be fully paid.

Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong said the board thought it wise to suspend the payment of allowances to beneficiaries after anomalies were detected in the e.zwich payments system and to allow for the verification of all beneficiaries.

"The data we have concerning the beneficiaries was 62,000 but we realised that more than a 1000 beneficiaries were not in the database", he noted.

On whether or not the allowances will be increased, Mr Kodua Frimpong noted that the allowance can be increased only after two years when the modules are been reviewed.

He said the agency currently has 12 modules including the Community Policing Assistants, Teaching assistant module, Fire Service and the Health assistant module.

The rest are Youth in Prison Service, Youth in Arabic, Coastal Sanitation and E-Health module.

Staff Categories:

Mr Kodua Frimpong noted that there are three categories of workers at the Agency- Contract staff, Permanent staff and the beneficiaries.

According to him contract staff are workers who monitor and evaluate the various modules as well as project assistants while the permanent staff are those working full time and form the skeletal structure of the agency such as the Human Resource, Finance and Administration.
