Four persons have reportedly been shot in the Central Gonja district of Buipe in the Northern Region. It is unclear yet what may have led to the shooting but Joy FM understands one of the victims has suffered severe injuries.
The four victims include the linguist of the Buipewura, Mahama Abdulai Jinapor II.
The four were reportedly ambushed and shot at this evening. It is not clear who may have carried out the shooting.
Police say they have heard of the incident but are yet to confirm details.
Buipe is known to suffer a lingering chieftaincy dispute that has seen the traditional council dis-enskin the Buipewura Mahama Abdulai Jinapor II.
He challenged the decision in court and got the decision of the traditional council overturned.
