The National Road Safety Commission Director for Research and Vehicle Towing Service, Mr David Adonteng Safo, has conceded that government has not been successful to drastically reduce road accidents in the country.
This, he however noted, has been a national worry to both the government and people living in the country.
He said government years back introduced road safety education tips which included the use of triangles, reflectors among others on faulty vehicles to alert oncoming vehicles.
He indicated that the safety campaign, which would have ensured that commercial and private drivers who ply the various streets in the country ensure accident-free country, unfortunately did not meet the expected outcome.
Speaking on Peace FM Tuesday, Mr Adonteng Safo said provisions have been made to take care of the situation.
He also said the government has signed a contract with some private towing institutions to tow away any broken down vehicle to avoid accidents on the roads.
Owners of the towed vehicles would be made to pay for the expenses made during the towing before their vehicles would be released to them.
He announced that the towing programme is expected to be launch tomorrow.
