Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu has directed Biomedical Engineers to embark on routine maintenance of hospital machines across the country.
This is part of plans to ensure that hospital equipment are always in good condition for any emergency.
Mr. Agyemang Manu who is also the MP for Dormaa Central gave the directive at Dormaa when he commissioned an X-Ray Machine at the Presbyterian Hospital.
“I am asking the biomedical engineers in the regions and headquarters to be following up with routine maintenance so that these machines can last longer.
“They are quite expensive so that we see how long they can last for us. So that other hospitals can benefit from new government programs.
The minister also hoped the hospitals have the necessary expertise to man the expensive equipment.
The head of the Pediatric Department of the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital, who received the X-Ray Machine, Dr. Adoma Dwomo-Fokuo asked the Minister to provide the constituency with an ultra-modern emergency facility.
“Until we are able to reduce under-five mortality to the barest minimum, maternal mortality to the barest minimum and indeed every single human being who comes here is able to go away hale and hearty we will not stop asking for more.
“We need an ultra-modern emergency block because if any of you here collapses where I will have to put and take care of you, I do not like,” she appealed.
