A Police officer has died after he was shot when a gang stormed the Kwabenya District Police headquarters to free suspected armed robbers who were in custody.
The Sunday dawn attack freed six Ghanaian suspects and one Nigerian.
The remand prisoners have been identified as Dickson Ofori, Chubuzor Chubuzor, Edem Rockson, Emmanuel Kotey, Prince Osei, Kofi Darko and Atta Kwadwo.
The suspects are aged between 20 and 34 years old, police officials say.
Police Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi believed to be in his 40's was shot in the attack carried out by a gang of six men. Blood stains are seen on the floor.

He, however, died at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra while receiving treatment.
The District Police headquarters has been cordoned off.

The police service hierarchy went to the district headquarters as criminal investigations start.
They include Inspector General of Police David Asante Apietu, Director-General of Operations, Dr Dampare, ag. CID Director-General, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwa Addo-Dankwa and DCOP George Mensah.
