Day 1: The capital, Accra, woke up Sunday morning the shocking shooting to death of a police officer at the Kwabenya District Police Station in the Greater Accra Region.

That same day, the police in a swoop, picked up a number of people for screening, in the hope that they could rearrest the escapees as well as the members of the gang who shot and killed the officer.

Day 2: On Monday, a day after the raid and the killing, a police officer told Joy News the slain officer was hiding in his vehicle when he was hit. The vehicle had broken down.

The wife of the late police officer narrated how the news was broken to her in a Joy News interview.

The policemen at the Kwabenya Police Station remained defiant, insisting they were not perturbed by the attack and the unfortunate killing of their supervisor.

Security experts warned that attacks on the police would continue unless something drastic is done about police operations.

Day 3: Retired army officer, Captain Budu Koomson, said police training must evolve.

Parliament summoned the Inspector-General of Police, David Asante Apeatu over the killing of police officers in recent times.

Day 4: Member of Parliament for Tema East Titus Glover, commenting on the matter, said some people ought to lose their jobs.

Also on this day, the police granted bail to 19 out of the 78 suspects picked for screening.

The manhunt is still on for those who raided the police station and freed members of their criminal gang.

Myjoyonline.com will be following the issue keenly and reporting on progress being made by the police to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book.
