Abomosu STEM Senior High School has secured the final ticket from the Eastern Region to the 2026 NSMQ National Championship after edging out Ghana Senior High School, Koforidua, in a thrilling contest that went down to a tie-breaker.

Abomosu STEM SHS dominated the contest for most parts, maintaining the lead through the rounds. At the end of the third round, Abomosu had built a comfortable advantage with 43 points, while Ghana SHS, Koforidua, had 34 points, and Mamfe Methodist Girls’ SHS followed with 29 points.

However, Ghana SHS, Koforidua, staged a remarkable comeback in the final round, closing the gap and forcing a tie as both schools ended the contest with 43 points each.

A tie-breaker was then required to separate the two sides, with Abomosu STEM SHS holding their nerve to secure victory and claim the final qualification spot.

Mamfe Methodist Girls’ SHS finished the contest with 32 points.

The victory means Abomosu STEM SHS becomes the final school from the Eastern Region to qualify for the 2026 NSMQ National Championship, joining the twelve schools that had already booked their places.

It was a heartbreaking end for Ghana SHS, Koforidua, which fought back strongly after trailing for most of the contest, while Mamfe Methodist Girls’ SHS exited after a spirited performance.
