The IBO bantamweight title bout between Joseph Agbeko and Michael Domingo on May 26 which was cancelled will now come off on the same date. This decision by promoters Golden Mike Promotions became necessary after they met the camp of the former world champions in a crunch meeting.Initial disagreements between both camps concerning the organisational aspect of the May 26 bill scheduled for the El-Wak Stadium prompted a postponement of the fight. In an interview on the Joy Sports Link, Mike Tetteh who leads Golden Mike Promotions, said “we have done many discussion in the background and we are sure that we will deliver a good promotion on my 26.”In an earlier interview with Joy Sports, Mike Tetteh had stated that the promotion had to be cancelled because of the enforcement of a ban on drumming and noise-making in the Ga traditional and anticipation of a heavy downpour on the evening of May 26.He explained that some musical performances lined up for the night had the potential to raise the noise levels which could go in contravention of the rules of the ban.The reactivation of this bout will leave Golden Mike Promotions with a fortnight to correct the ills with publicising the bout.“We have to put extra effort in and with the support from the media we can put together a world class bout that will attract thousands of people,” Mike Tetteh told the Joy Sports Link. When contacted for his thoughts on the reinstated fight, Joseph Ageko said he had been training for the past 15 weeks and will deliver on the day.“I want many people to come and watch me fight and also the promoters need to put together a world class promotion to make it attractive,” he said.In other bouts, WBO Africa light heavyweight champion Brimah Kamoko, affectionately called Bukom Banku, will defend his title against Vitaly Rusal of Ukraine.Joshua Okine, the Bukom Tsatsu will also fight Rafael Sosa Pintos of Uruguay for the WBO interim super welterweight title.Emmanuel Tagoe, the Game boy will face Italy’s Antonio De Vitis for the IBF intercontinental super featherweight championship while Samuel Amoako takes a shot at the WBO Africa lightweight title against Ramon Esperanza of Paraguay.
