The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asked other political parties to play their expected roles to ensure that the December elections are violence free.
Even though the polls promise to be keenly contested, Nana Addo is confident violence could be avoided if all parties played their roles responsibly.
The NPP flag bearer said Ghanaians are expecting a peaceful elections for that matter, all must act to meet the people’s expectation.
"That is what the Ghanaian people are expecting and we hope that you [the media] can help the Ghanaian people achieve this goal", Nana Akufo-Addo told journalists at a press soiree at his Ringway Estates office on Thursday.
He said it is the NPP’s desire that the elections are conducted peacefully, fair, transparent and without violence while calling on the media to help forestall any possible acrimony.
Earlier, the NPP’s 2012 campaign manager, Boakye Agyarko empahsised the need for the youth to avoid the use of offensive language during the campaign period.
He said the NPP has already committed itself to a clean campaign and will stick to that to ensure peace and stability of the nation before, during and after the elections.
