The Presidential candidate of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) has promised to end the winner-takes-all practice in the country’s politics if elected president in the December polls.Speaking at an evening encounter with identifiable professional groups Tuesday night, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom gave firm assurance that he will run an all inclusive government based on competence and not on party affiliation. He outlined strategies he will adopt to solve the country’s problems if given the nod as President.“There must be a President in this country who says it doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, what party you belong to as long as you are a Ghanaian, as long as you are qualified you are the one we will give this to,” he stressed.
Some participants who attended the encounter gave Dr Nduom high marks for his performance but others asked him to do more to convince Ghanaians the PPP has what it takes to win the elections.Dr Sekou Nkrumah told Joy News, “I have always wondered whether Kwame Nkrumah was the only leader we’ve had with vision or Ghanaian with vision but it looks like there are others too, I think Dr Nduom is one of them.”He, however, added that, “My other difficulty is that, you know in Ghana the big boys, NDC, NPP, have been having their way, I don’t think it will change this December.”Kofi Kapito of the Consumer Rights Protection Agency said he was impressed by the level of understanding of consumer rights issues demonstrated by the PPP flagbearer.
