On this World Water Day 2025, the AbibiNsroma Foundation emphasises the urgent need to address the critical challenges posed by climate change, particularly the alarming rise in sea levels affecting coastal communities in Ghana.
This year's theme, "Glacier Preservation," serves as a reminder of the vital role that glaciers play in sustaining life and regulating the water cycle.
As glaciers continue to melt due to rising global temperatures, the repercussions are felt far and wide, including in our own backyards.
In Ghana, the impacts of climate change are increasingly evident as rising sea levels lead to severe flooding and disasters, displacing families and threatening livelihoods.
Coastal communities, which rely heavily on fishing and agriculture, are particularly vulnerable. The inundation of homes and farmland not only disrupts daily life but also jeopardizes food security and economic stability for countless families.
The AbibiNsroma Foundation urges the global community to accelerate efforts to reduce carbon emissions and implement local strategies that adapt to the realities of shrinking glaciers and unpredictable water flows.
It is imperative that we take decisive action to protect our water bodies and the ecosystems that depend on them. The preservation of glaciers is not just a distant concern; it directly impacts the availability of fresh water and the health of our communities.
AbibiNsroma encouraged all to advocate for the sustainable management of water to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Water and Sanitation for all by 2030.

As we observe World Water Day 2025, we call on all stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and local communities, to collaborate in developing sustainable practices that safeguard our water resources.
Together, we can combat the effects of climate change and ensure a resilient future for the generations to come.
