The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, has called on young Ghanaians to focus on long-term leadership and leave a legacy that transcends their generation.
Speaking at the opening of the 2026 International Youth Empowerment Summit (iYES) in Accra, Mr Ayariga encouraged participants to view their actions as building blocks for future generations.
“Potential alone is not enough. Across our communities, there are young people full of ideas, creativity, and ambition, yet too often they face barriers that make them question whether the future is truly open to them,” he said.

“When young people lose hope and momentum, dire consequences await a nation. It is ultimately the courage of Ghanaian youth that will determine our future.”
He emphasised that transgenerational impact begins with practical opportunities, not just motivational speeches.

“This is how impact begins—not with words, but with action. If we protect young lives, expand opportunity, and nurture leadership, the results will be visible in ways we cannot yet fully imagine,” Mr Ayariga stated.
Touching on the importance of civic responsibility, he urged attendees to reflect on their contributions beyond their own generation.

“The question is not simply whether young people will succeed in their own time, but whether the courage they demonstrate today will widen the path for the next generation that must one day cross the same bridge,” he said.

The summit, held from 10 to 13 March 2026 under the theme “Transgenerational Impact,” brings together young leaders from across Ghana and the world to discuss empowerment, mentorship, and nation-building.
Mr Ayariga praised the iYES Foundation for over a decade of inspiring leadership and nurturing youth across generations.
