Accra will on Friday host an international conference under the theme “African Youth & Employment,” aimed at proposing recommendations to the Africa Commission on how to sustain higher economic growth and create jobs for the increasing number of young people in Africa, and also to ensure African ownership of the process.
The conference, the third of five thematic conferences staged by the international, high level Africa Commission initiated by the Danish Government.
A press statement by the Communications and Media Secretariat of the Africa Commission said the conference will be hosted by three of the eighteen members of the Africa Commission: Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Managing Director for the World Bank, and Ms. Ulla Tørnæs, Minister for Development Cooperation in Denmark.
Ms. Mary Chinery-Hesse, chief adviser to H.E. President Kufour, will deliver a key-note speech.
The Africa Commission was launched by the Danish Government in April 2008, aimed at seeking new ideas and strategies to strengthen international development cooperation with Africa.
