The Greater Accra Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party has given the green light to all parliamentary aspirants who have duly been vetted and approved to contest in the various primaries.
The regional executive committee met on Tuesday and discussed the rising cases of discontent in the various primaries in the region after some of the aspirants were disqualified from contesting even though such persons had previously been cleared by the vetting committee.
A case in point is the controversy at the Klottey Korle constituency where an aspirant, Mr. George Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah’s name was deleted from the list of aspirants because he is not a Ga. The case is currently being contested at the Accra Fast Track High Court.
In an interview with Adom Kasiebo this morning, the head of administration Mr. Eric Kwatia, said everything about the primaries is being done in conformity with the party’s constitution so the executives will not do anything contrary to what is required of them.
Commenting on the Klottey Korle constituency controversy, Mr. Kwatia disclosed that the regional executives had directed the constituency chairman to allow the aspirant to contest the primaries.
As to why the NPP primaries are recording so many cases of conflict, Mr. Kwatia said that it is part of politics so it is not something new to worry about.
