Action Chapel will no longer hold its 31st December Passover Service at the Independence Square here in Accra.
The new venue is yet to be announced. The church took the decision following reports it was sabotaging the International Central Gospel Church, ICGC which has over the years used the same venue for its Crossover Service.
But Action Chapel in a statement signed by its general overseer, Archbishop Duncan William, says the church took the decision as its choice of the Independence Square has "led to unfortunate misrepresentations in the media."
Public Relations Officer of the archbishop, Francis Dadzie said the change of plans will ensure "a level of unity among the body of Christ."
“For now we want to apologise to all those who are prepared to join us… the inconvenience caused to members of the general public,” he said.
Mr Dadzie also denied reports there is a frosty relationship between his church and the ICGC?
“There is nothing like that – because as far as we were concerned the Independence Square is a national monument. Several activities take place there. Any member of the public can apply to use the place,” he said.
Asked why Action Chapel decided to choose the venue for the programme when the ICGC is known to use the venue every year for its service, Mr Dadzie said he is not aware that the ICGC uses the place.
The Crossover service of the ICGC will however come off at the Accra Sports Stadium.
