Police in the Jirapa District of the Upper West Region are investigating a mob attack on two suspected armed robbers leading to their death.
The two suspected criminals were set on fire after they were beaten to pulp by the angry Jirapa residents on Sunday.
The lynching of the two, according to Upper West Region Correspondent, Rafiq Salam, was based on suspicions they have been terrorising the community for some time now.
Jirapa District Police Commander, ASP Daniel Nartey, told Joy News although the youth in the area have become overly violent in recent times, the police are doing their best to contain the situation.
He said police are proceeding cautiously since the youth have threatened to burn down the police station if they attempt to arrest anyone in connection with the lynching.
No arrests have thus been made in connection with Sunday's mob attack.
Meanwhile, Rafiq reports that the Jirapa residents have declared war on armed robbers and criminals.
