The Appointments Committee of Parliament on Tuesday, postponed the vetting of ministerial nominees Agnes Naa Momo Lartey and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare to today, Wednesday, 22 January 2025.
Naa Momo Lartey, nominated as Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, nominated as Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, were initially scheduled to appear before the committee on Tuesday, 21 January.
The delay was attributed to prolonged deliberations on other nominees and additional parliamentary commitments. Despite the deferral, Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Local Affairs, successfully underwent vetting on the same day. The committee reassured the public that the rescheduled sessions would proceed as planned on Wednesday.
The Appointments Committee is diligently reviewing President John Dramani Mahama’s nominees as part of broader efforts to finalise his cabinet and enhance governance under the new administration.
In the meantime, Parliament has approved six of President Mahama’s ministerial nominees for critical positions within his government.
These include Haruna Iddrisu as Minister for Education, Governs Kwame Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways, and Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture.
Others are Dr Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance, Dr Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister for Justice, and John Jinapor as Minister for Energy.
