The leadership of the Peki Senior High School (PESCO) Old Students’ Association has promised to rebrand and reposition the association in the coming years to support the development of the school. 

It has outlined a roadmap to be implemented to achieve this feat which would result in providing a new face and positioning PESCO as one of the best second-cycle schools in the Volta Region. 

The President of the Association, David Kwame Aziago, emphasized this during the induction ceremony for the executives over the weekend in Accra.

“Rebranding is not about logos or slogans. It is about identity. It is about relevance. It is about positioning PESCOSA as a strong, united, and dependable backbone of PESCO’s development”, he said. 

PESCO 70th Anniversary 

He indicated the first task ahead is organizing a successful and memorable 70th anniversary celebration for PESCO in 2027, to honor the school for contributing to the development of the country’s human resources by “producing leaders, professionals, and patriots.”

He announced that a Legacy Entrance Gate would be constructed to commemorate the anniversary among others, focused on uplifting Peki Senior High School. 

“Seventy years is not a small milestone. It demands something significant from us. That is why we are committing ourselves to the construction of a Legacy Entrance Gate for our beloved school. Not just physical structure, but a symbol. A symbol of gratitude. A symbol of unity. A symbol that declares that old students remember where they came from”, he explained. 

He entreated the old students to commit themselves to the task of developing their alma mater to the desired status through financial contributions, mentorship, advocacy among others

“If we stand together across year groups, across professions, and rise to the task, there is nothing PESCOSA cannot achieve. The biggest 70th anniversary homecoming in our history is possible”, said Mr. Aziago. 

Vibrant Alumni Network

He, however, promised to lead his team to establish a vibrant alumni network, a stronger welfare, and operate a transparent and accountable administration, 

He explained that his administration would be guided by the principles of inclusion, transparency, and results. 

“First: Inclusion; every year group matters. Every member matters. Second: Transparency; Members must know what we are doing, how we are doing it, and why. Third: Results; We will not measure success by noise, but by impact”, he stressed. 

“I call on all old students, both at home and abroad, to rise to this occasion. This is not the time to sit back. This is the time to step forward. Let us contribute our ideas. Let us contribute our time. Let us contribute our resources. Together, we will build a PESCOSA that our children will one day be proud to join” he said. 

Partnership with the School’s Management 

Mr. Aziago who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Davida Roofing promised to partner with the school’s management while leveraging his network for the development of PESCO,

“To our beloved PESCO, we pledge loyalty and service. Let this inauguration not end as an event. Let it mark the beginning of a movement”, he concluded. 

Indiscipline in second cycle school 

The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Edem Agbana, underscored the significance of education and lamented the incidents of indiscipline in the second cycle schools.

He identified it as the “biggest challenge” in the country’s educational sector, and advised authorities of Peki Senior High School to prioritize instilling discipline into their students. 

“I also want to urge you that beyond physical projects, be very interested in instilling the culture of discipline in your school”, he said 

Mr. Agbana also outlined the advantages of the digital era and advised teachers to shape their students to be ready for the fourth industrial revolution.

 Leveraging network 

Mr. Agbana entreated the leadership of the old students' association and school management to leverage its network to harness development and ensure the progress of the school.  

He indicated that the South Dayi Constituency has a number of its citizens appointed to distinctive positions in the current government, who could help allocate physical projects to the school. 

“You have come in at a time that you are strategically positioned to do a lot for the school”, he said. 

The Administrator of the Ghana Sports Fund, Dr. David Kofi Wuaku, who is also an old students of PESCO entreated the newly inducted executives to commit to the ethos of leadership and lead the association to greater heights. 

An old student of PESCO, Prof Eric Daniel Ananga of the University of Education, Winneba, underscored the need to build strong networks among old students towards improving the status of the school and for individual benefits.
