An Argentine group has threatened Ghana over the South American detained naval vessel at the Tema Port, the Libertad (Liberty).
Patrioticos de Argentina (Patriots of Argentina) has posted its warning on a local website in which it calls on the Ghanaian government to have the vessel released or face its wrath.
The vessel, according to the group, was being detained in contravention of international law, the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties.
"Your government have (sic) illegally seized our Libertad frigate, a School ship belonging to the Argentine Navy."
The group that hacked the official website of the Ghana Ministry of Justice stated that the frigate meant a lot to its country and by the action of the Ghanaian government, it was being provoked.
"This is a warning. If you refuse to release our Libertad Frigate in three days, we will unleash HELL on you. We will attack all your government websites, all your banks, your stock exchange, all your gold and oil companies, your energy and water companies, we will publish on Internet all your personal banking records, the ones in your country and the ones abroad and more!"
Ghana, the group warned, would suffer millions in losses if the ship was not released in three days time.
The authenticity of the document cannot be ascertained but it is worth pursuing by local authorities.
The frigate is being detained upon the orders of a local court over a default on the repayment of loans by the Argentine government.
An Accra High Court ordered that the South American country make provisions for the bond before its release.
NML Capital, upon whose request the ship was detained and which is suing Argentina for defaulting on its loans, has requested a bond of $20 million and claims running into about $300 million.
Counsel representing NML Capital Limited in Ghana, Ace Ankomah, it would be recalled, said, "Argentina, the defendant applied to set the court order aside and the court said it would not set the order aside and reiterated the order and went into the reasons why it gave the order."
