In the wake of Arsenal’s embarrassing 8-2 defeat to rivals Manchester United, the club has written to the fans who attended the game to offer to cover the cost of any future Premier League away fixture.
Arsene Wenger had to endure his biggest loss during his 15-year tenure with the Gunners as Sir Alex Ferguson’s players ran riot at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Wayne Rooney grabbing a hat-trick and Red Devils new-boy Ashley Young securing a brace.
A statement on the club’s official website said: "Arsenal Football Club has announced it will be writing to fans who travelled to Old Trafford on Sunday with an offer to cover the cost of a match ticket at a future Barclays Premier League away game.
"Sunday's result was obviously disappointing for everyone connected with the club. Our travelling fans were magnificent throughout and we want to recognise their fantastic support. We will be writing to them shortly with the details."
