Some residents of Kenyasi in the Ashanti Region on Monday clashed with police during a protest over bad roads in the area.
The demonstration started peacefully but later turned violent when a team of police officers deployed to the area to restore order, started firing warning shots.
The police were said to have also fired tear gas to disperse the crowd which pelted them with stones and other objects.
Luv FM’s Prince Appiah said the demonstration was largely peaceful until the police intervened with the warning shots.
The Bufallo unit of the police service fired rubber bullets to quell the demonstration.
Some of the demonstrators were said to have sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment at the hospital.
The police have been tight-lipped on the matter.
But the residents claim today's demonstration is just the beginning of several demonstrations if their roads are not repaired.
According to Prince Appiah, some Assembly men in the area have given the government a 100 day ultimatum to repair the roads or they will embark on successive demonstrations.
