A former activist of the New Patriotic Party and junior brother of the late Jatoe Kaleo who was Member of Parliament for the area in the first republic, Yussif Kaleo Jebuni has given the strongest boost to the sixth term bid of the Nadowli West Member of Parliament, Alban Sumaana Kinsford Bagbin.
Yussif Kaleo said even if the late Jatoe Kaleo was alive he would have voted for Alban Bagbin in the December polls.
Speaking at a rally organized in honor of the MP at Naro in the Nadowli West constituency, Mr. Kaleo Jebuni stated that the Nadowli West MP has done more than enough for the people of the constituency and deserves to be retained.
''We were all witnesses when Jatoe Kaleo declared his support for Alban Bagbin in 1992 against his own NPP member, R.K. Konuba and I believe that he would have done same in this current circumstance against Dr. Boyebandie, the NPP parliamentary candidate.
He further stated that Mr. Bagbin has done a lot for the constituency since he became an MP and has worked in all facets to improving the lives of the people.
He cited the case of the many health facilities, provision of good drinking water and electricity to the people.
Mr. Alban Sumaana Kingsford Bagbin thanked the people for the support and confidence reposed in him over the years.
He said the NPP knowing that they have lost the battle to defeating him have now resorted to accusing him of staying too long on the seat as an MP.
''How many of you would not like to stay long; how many of would not Iike your father or your mother to stay long on earth," Mr. Bagbin asked.
''None of you will throw them away because of the experience and the good advice they have beneath their sleeves and it is same with politics."
Mr. Bagbin told his challengers to either join the NDC or they will never have the opportunity of being in parliament.
"It is not NPP members that will tell us that your MP have stayed long; it is none of their business. Even when I am standing down, it will be an NDC member that will succeed me and not an NPP. So if you want to represent the people in Parliament, the best way and party to join is the NDC,” Bagbin insisted.
