DAILY GUIDE has gotten wind of plans to blackmail the former Minister for Information, Stephen Asamoah Boateng and his wife as part of government's plans to throw the hangman's noose around their necks.
Reports say some media practitioners have been tasked to put out negative stories about Asamoah Boateng, who is affectionately called Asabee and link him to occultism, voodoo and sorcery so as to find a plausible explanation to his recent chain of victories in court.
An insider told DAILY GUIDE on Sunday evening that as part of the plot, the said negative stories would be posted on the websites of media houses so as to get the attention of Ghanaians living abroad.
"It would not be different from the strategy that was used to put the 'kanka nyame' tag on Kwame Nkrumah so people will believe he is using some powers to confuse those who have taken him to court for whatever reasons and the perception will stick if it is published over and over just as the cocaine tag has become part of Akufo-Addo.
"There is no other way of explaining how Kufuor's men are winning their court cases despite the tags of corruption put on them, and Asabee's case is making the government look stupid," the insider noted.
He said the stories would be skewed towards making people believe that the former minister was using some occult powers against persons who have dragged him to court for whatever reasons.
"The original idea was to use his friendship with TB Joshua as a platform to say that he is dealing with occultists but that would mean the President would be dragged into the fray and so we decided to use the juju matters but some insisted that TB Joshua has a big name in Ghana so we should throw that story out first as a water tester," the source noted.
Whether by coincidence or not, a number of media houses have started putting out stories that Asamoah Boateng had fled to Prophet TB Joshua, the controversial leader of the Synagogue Church of All Nations for succor alter he was inundated with court cases by the current government.
The stories portray Asabee as an embattled politician who has heard of the supernatural powers of TB Joshua and fled to him for some spiritual protection.
DAILY GUIDE'S checks showed that Asamoah Boateng and TB Joshua have had a long standing friendship spanning two decades and that the two became friends before former President Kufuor assumed office in 2000.
