The controversy over the appointment of a new rector for the Cape Coast Polytechnic has taken a new twist. Some lecturers there are accusing Minister of Education Betty Mould Iddrisu of interfering in the appointment of a new rector. The teachers say they are reliably informed president Mills has dissolved the polytechnic council, but the minister has directed the same council to appoint a new rector for the institute. Spokesperson of the aggrieved lecturers, Emmanuel Offei Appiah told Joy News that they are disappointed at the turn of events and is asking President Mills to call the minister to order. He said even though the minister has been told that her conduct “was improper”, she was unyielding. The lecturers are threatening to go to court, if the interview to appoint a rector was stopped. “So we are asking the president to please call the madam and then bring her to order, it looks like she is abusing her officer somehow, otherwise we will go to court and Cape Coast Polytechnic that would suffer”
