Police in Accra are investigating a case of misconduct against a police man said to have indiscriminately shot and injured three people at the CAL Bank premises in Accra.

They are also investigating a case of criminality against a customer of a bank, Nathaniel Nortey who is alleged to have spent several minutes at the banking hall without transacting any business.

Corporal Bernard Frimpong has been detained as police begin investigations into the matter, Greater Accra Police Public Relations Officer DSP Freeman Tettey confirmed in an interview  with Joy News.

The police man was reported to have confronted Nathaniel Nortey after he found his conduct suspicious.

Nathaniel Nortey reportedly went to the bank and did not conduct any business. He was also said to have gone to the ATM close to the bank and still did not transact any business, allegations Nortey has vehemently denied, insisting he went to the bank to deposit money into his account.

The security became suspicious and  Corporal Frimpong confronted him. In the ensuing scuffle Corporal Frimpong was alleged to have injured three people after he indiscriminately opened fire.

Nathaniel Nortey was said to have been injured in the process with two others, another customer and a bank official also suffering minor injuries.

All of them have been treated and discharged, DSP Freeman Tettey said.

He indicated the police will visit the scene of the incident and begin investigations.

DSP Tettey said they are liaising with the authorities of the bank to provide them with the footage of the CCTV to facilitate their investigations.

Meanwhile, calm is said to have returned to the Bank after the incident.

Joy News' Beatrice Adu who visited the bank said customers are busy transacting business in a normal banking atmosphere.
