As expected, Manchester City's Carlos Tevez was included in a preliminary squad to fight for the Copa America on behalf of Argentina, as coach Sergio Batista released the names of 26 players who will train in preparation for the South American tournament.
'Carlitos' is one of seven strikers included in the list, as Inter marksman Diego Milito was also included despite appearing to be almost out of contention. Catania goalkeeper Mariano Andujar also edges into the squad, gaining a call-up thanks to Getafe number one Oscar Ustari's knee injury during a training session on Tuesday for the Under-25 team in Nigeria.
The squad will now stay in Buenos Aires training with 'Checho' and the rest of the Albiceleste staff, with locally-based players Diego Valeri, Enzo Perez, Luciano Monzon and Juan Pablo Carrizo given more leave to represent squads in the ongoing Clausura championship.
The next big decisions will come at the end of the month, when the 26 chosen will be whittled down to 22 after the squad's final friendlies in June.
