A 22-year-old charcoal seller, Michael Abu, was on Wednesday, slapped with a jail term of 15 years in hard labour, for defiling a four-year-old child.
He pleaded not guilty, however, the court found him guilty after the trial.
Presenting the fact of the case, Chief Inspector Alice Parker-Wilson, told the court, presided over by Mr Kwasi Boakye, that at about 09:30 hours, on September 18, 2010, the convict, who resides at Bankyease, a suburb of Takoradi, lured the victim into his room and forcibly had sex with her.
She said after the act the convict warned the victim not to tell anyone about the act, and compensated her with three biscuits.
The prosecutor said the victim after undergoing abdominal pains for sometime, reported her ordeal to the mother and a report was made to the police leading to the arrest and prosecution of the convict.
