Nana Buokyere Apenteng Ababio, the Asonahene of Akrokerri, has urged the media to lead the crusade against poor physical planning of cities and towns by metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies.
"The media have a major role to play in ensuring that our cities and towns are planned well so that there will be an access to every house or building in case of disasters like fire outbreaks", he said.
Addressing a press conference at Obuasi to condemn the manner in which some people are illegally acquiring lands belonging to the Akrokerri Asona stool, Nana Apenteng maintained there needed to be more discipline in land administration.
"There are laid down procedures for acquiring lands for development which prospective developers must follow", he insisted.
Nana Buokyere Apenteng Ababio said all lands belonging to the family and situated at Akrokerri, Abedwum, Kwapia and Dadwen have plans designed by qualified surveyors and warned that those behind the illegal sales as well as the buyers are heading for trouble.
He vowed to fight any unplanned development on the Asona stool lands and asked all illegal developers to regularize their allocation or face legal action.
